The Optical Society Announces 2017 International Network of Students Conferences
Locations selected from around the world to bring learning opportunities directly
WASHINGTON – The Optical Society (OSA) invites student members to join their peers and luminaries at eight International OSA Network of Students (IONS) Conferences around the globe in 2017. IONS conferences are student-led, student-centric events hosted by leaders among OSA’s more than 350 student chapters in over 60 countries.
“IONS conferences are an ideal entrée in to planning scientific conferences for the student organizers. They plan themes, invite the speakers, seek out funding from OIDA members, and manage registration, housing and cultural events for their meetings’ attendees.” said Chad Stark, executive director, The Optical Society Foundation. “In this way, our IONS conferences foster lifelong professional skills that OSA students can leverage throughout their career.”
Each 3-5 day conference focuses on technical and professional development with talks from students, OSA Officers and Ambassadors and invited speakers from OSA’s esteemed traveling lecturers. These conferences provide students with networking opportunities to forge connections among their peers as well as luminaries in the field.
