In Memoriam: Glenn T. Sincerbox,

Glenn T. Sincerbox, OSA Fellow and active OSA volunteer, passed away on 24 March 2017. Sincerbox was an Emeritus member of OSA and served on numerous committees for the Society, including the Frontiers in Optics Program Committee (1994-1998) and the Optical Data Storage Advisory Committee, of which he served as Chair in 1993-1994.
 
Sincerbox graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science degree and then pursued and received a master’s degree from the University of Illinois in 1960.  During the course of his career, Sincerbox worked as a scientist in the optical storage technology department at IBM's Almaden Research Center and then later he moved to the College of Optical Sciences at the University of Arizona. Sincerbox served as the Director of the Optical Data Storage Center at the University of Arizona and ultimately became a Professor Emeritus of Optical Sciences.
 
Sincerbox was awarded 37 patents during his career and was known for his contributions to the book, Holographic Data Storage, which he co-authored with Hans J. Coufal, and Demetri Psaltis.  He was a member of OSA for more than fifty years and was made an OSA Fellow in 1982.  In addition to his research accomplishments, Sincerbox was well known in the community as a dedicated volunteer and mentor to students and colleagues. 

Sincerbox will be dearly missed by his family, colleagues, and many collaborators within the optics community. OSA and the scientific community mourns the loss of Glenn T. Sincerbox.
