OIDA Sponsored Webinar: OptiInstrument Software for Testing, Characterization and Automation

24 June 2021, 10:00 - 11:00 - Eastern Daylight Time (UTC - 04:00)

The features of Optiwave’s Instruments Communication and Control software tool (OptiInstrument) will be introduced and demonstrated for different applications. OptiInstrument software satisfies the demands of users who are searching for a powerful yet easy tool to physically or remotely communicate with and controls variety of instruments. The newly added smart logic and conditioning control features allow users to better automate and control the testing & characterization of different instruments in the lab or at the manufacturing floors. Long term stability tests can be executed using OptiInstrument software.

OptiInstrument software uses the standard commands for programmable instruments (SCPI) to communicate with the instruments through standard interfaces such as TCP/IP, USB, GPIB, or a serial port (RS232/RS485). The SCPI command sequence can be converted into a Python script for further editing and execution within either OptiInstrument GUI, command prompt, or Windows PowerShell. The results of the executed command sequences can be saved in a JSON or text file formats.

The following topics will be covered in the webinar:

  1. GUI/Alias Names/Resource name UI/Logic Commands/JSON file output/Data Post Processing UI.
  2. Demo Examples: Stability, OTDR instrument, OSA trace capture/graphing/unit conversion UI
