Optics and photonics students have numerous opportunities to continue their studies in Germany. This session will present opportunities offered by the Max Planck School of Photonics. This top tier interdisciplinary graduate school provides and coordinates an integrated PhD program in photonics for excellent graduates from all over the world. Their PhD candidates can conduct their research at one of the network partner institutions, i.e. top-ranking German universities or renowned research institutions in many different locations across Germany. The German Academic Exchange Service will contribute with valuable information and the questions a student should raise before deciding about the country and university/institution he/she wants to join.

The following  speakers will each give a short overview before a Q&A period:

1. Prof. Christine Silberhorn: Paderborn University
2. Prof. Carsten Rockstuhl: Karlsruhe Institute of Technology
3. Peter Kerrigan: Deputy Director, German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), New York Office
4. Alejandra Zegarra: PhD student, Leibniz Institute of Photonic Technology, OSA Student Chapter Jena
