Design and fabrication of Ge-on-Si slot waveguide for mid-infrared optical gas sensor (SF2D.2)

Optical slot waveguide was demonstrated in the mid-infrared at 4.2 μm for gas sensing application on Germanium-on-silicon platform. 0.47 ppm of limit-of-detection for carbon dioxide can be achieved with enhanced confinement factor and propagation loss.

Investigation on TiOx/Ti/TiOx tri-layer film for integrated optical gas sensing applications (SF2D.3)

We systematically investigated the electrical characteristics of TiOx/Ti/TiOx tri-layer film for optical gas sensors on Ge-on-insulator platform. It was found that noise-equivalent-temperature-difference, which is strongly associated with limit-of-detection of gas sensors, could reach 14.56 mK.

On-Chip Single-Device Chirality Detection Using Topological Insulator Phototransistor (SF2D.6)

Conventional optical chirality detection requires multiple optical components. A topological insulator-based phototransistor is reported in which helical photoconductivity responds solely to circular polarization. Chirality and power density can be simultaneously measured under varied operating modes.

Biosensor based on E-SMS Optical Fiber Structure for Detection of Anti BSA (SF2D.7)

In this work, etched singlemode-multimode-singlemode (E-SMS) optical fiber structures are evaluated through the implementation of anti-BSA/BSA immunoassay. By tracking the wavelength response, it is found that the E-SMS devices can detect the presence of antiBSA.
