What Can Menlo Systems Optical Frequency Combs Do for You?

The optical frequency comb is a laser source that that can provide broadband optical radiation from the Mid-IR to the UV. The frequency comb has discrete spectral components, i.e. comb teeth, whose frequency can be precisely determined and controlled, thus forming a “frequency ruler” in the optical domain. Developed twenty years ago, it is now the heart of the clock work of optical atomic clocks which have produced the most accurate measurements in human history. The frequency comb has enabled other applications such as low-phase noise microwave generation, trace gas detection and spectroscopy, and coherent LIDAR amongst many other applications. In this talk, we will present Menlo Systems' optical frequency combs for demanding applications in both academic and industrial settings.

Speaker

Mark Yeo Ph.D., U.S. West Sales Engineer, Menlo Systems

Mark obtained a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Mathematics from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. His research there in trapped ion quantum computation earned the William L. Williams award for outstanding undergraduate thesis. Mark earned his Ph.D. in physics under the advisership of Prof. Jun Ye where he demonstrated the first Magneto-Optical Trapping of molecules amongst other work in fundamental cold molecule research. Prior to joining Menlo Systems, Mark has a half decade of experience working in industry where he performed and led applied physics research into frequency combs, metrology, and atomic and molecular optics. He joined Menlo Systems in June 2020 as U.S. West Sales Engineer where he now uses his experience in industry and academia to find solutions for his customer’s demanding applications.
