About the Speaker
Greg Young is Vice President & General Manager at Cisco and continues to lead the Luxtera team. Prior to joining Cisco, Greg was President and CEO of Luxtera, Inc. (acquired by Cisco Systems Inc 02/2019 for $660M). Luxtera develops silicon photonics, which integrates fiber optics with silicon electronics. Greg joined Luxtera in late 2007, attracting and deploying over $250M of both investment and project funding from top-tier VCs and networking, computing, and semiconductor industry leaders. Greg scaled Luxtera from early stage scientific research through to million-unit production volumes and profitability. Luxtera has been widely recognized as the world’s leader in Silicon Photonics, and is the top supplier of optical transceiver devices for deployment in marquee Cloud Data Centers and 4/5G mobile infrastructure. Prior to joining Luxtera in 2007, Greg was the Vice President and General Manager of the High-Speed Ethernet Controller business unit at Broadcom where he managed the growth of the business unit from concept to over $350M in revenue and number one market share position. Prior to joining Broadcom in 1999, Greg was with Intel where he held several engineering, marketing, and business leadership positions in the networking and video conferencing business units. Greg started his career as an inventor / entrepreneur in the early 90’s after attending San Diego State University with a focus in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science. He currently resides in San Diego with his wife of 20 years and four children.
