Valery V. Tuchin

Valery V. Tuchin is a Professor and Head of Optics and Biophotonics at Saratov State University (National Research University of Russia) and several other universities. His research interests include tissue optics and nanobiophotonics.

He is a Fellow of SPIE and OSA, has been awarded Honored Science Worker of the Russia, Honored Professor of Saratov University, SPIE Educator Award, FiDiPro (Finland),and Chime Bell Prize of Hubei Province (China). He received the 2016 Joseph W. Goodman Book Writing Award for his book Tissues Optics: Light Scattering methods and instruments for medical diagnosis, 3rd edition. Most recently, he won the 2019 Michael S. Feld Biophotonics Award “for pioneering research in biophotonics, particularly in the field of tissue optics and tissue optical clearing, and for promoting biophotonics by educating future researchers through seminal monographs and reviews.”
