Shanhui Fan

OSA Awards & Distinctions



Shanhui Fan did his undergraduate work at the University of Science and Technology of China. He then completed his Ph.D. in Physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1997. There, he was a Postdoctoral Research Associate and Research Scientist until 2001. That year, he came to Stanford University, where he is now Professor of Electrical Engineering. Throughout his career, Fan has been awarded many honors, including OSA Adolph Lomb Medal in 2007, “for his fundamental work in nano-photonic structures.” He is a Fellow of OSA, APS, SPIE, and IEEE.
