OSA joined 100+ organizations for the first annual March for Science on 22 April 2017 in over 600 locations worldwide. OSA was also a sponsor and partner of the 175 global satellite marches on 14 April 2018. These events celebrated diversity and inclusion in science, evidence-based policies, global scientific collaborations and sustained R&D funding of science.
The Physics of Superheroes at the March for Science 2017 with James Kakalios
The Optical Society (OSA) and the American Physical Society (APS) proudly present a teach-in on the National Mall for the March for Science: the Physics of Superheroes with James Kakalios, University of Minnesota. The audience learns about the human superpower- intelligence – through an exploration connections to real-life physics and optical properties in one of the last places you would expect to find them- among super heroes in comic books.
