As undergraduates at IIT Madras, we took an advanced class on nonlinear optics by Prof. Venkitesh. Little did we know that that one course, and its instructor, would help us discover our love for optics and go on to have such an influence on our career trajectories. Working on projects with her gave us a glimpse of the immense curiosity and the unrelenting passion for science that drives her. Her example of discipline, curiosity, perseverance and rigor is one that we strive to live by.
