Honoring Joanna Schmit

In recognition of Dr. Joanna Schmit's work in technology development in optical interferometry and particularly vertical scanning interferometry, I submit this brief tribute. While we were colleagues, Joanna gave tireless answers to my questions in this area, and I want to recognize and thank her for inspiring me to deepen my own understanding. I hope to pass this love for learning (as much as possible!) to my own daughters, in whatever pursuits they have in their lives. Matt Novak
