My mother Dr. Thangam Parameswaran is an outstanding scientist who inspired me to pursue a career in optics. I fondly recall her bringing a HeNe laser and mirrors to my high school physics class for a demonstration that impressed everyone. Her work in both fundamental physics and applied engineering showed us how to adapt and succeed in all situations. My sister (also an accomplished engineer) and I are very lucky to have her support and encouragement in everything that we do. We love you Amma!
