Dr. Liu has used optical engineering principles to contribute to the fields of combustion science and biomedical engineering. I was one of the first two students in his lab when he started as an assistant professor and he enabled me to grow personally and professionally during my time as a doctoral candidate, which prepared me for contributing independently to optical engineering in an industry setting. I would like to recognize his ongoing contributions to engineering with this donation to OSA.
