I thought that I would take this opportunity to donate to the Optical Society of America and what better way than to pay a tribute to you. It is possible that you may remember me. Not because of any great deed in Optics but because I met you once at the house of my Mother in Law, Herta Saphier in South Wales. She invited me over when you stayed with her whilst you visited Bristol University to receive an honory doctorate in Mathematics.
