Gordon Kino

Gordon Kino was a brilliant physicist, electrical engineer and mathematician. He developed confocal scanning optical microscopy, demonstrating dramatic improvements in resolution over conventional microscopy, which resulted in many commercial applications. His strength was in signal processing, initially in acoustic signal processing and then in optical signal processing. His mathematical skills inspired us all.
