The Integrated Photonic Systems Roadmap (IPSR) is the latest in a series of related roadmaps addressing integrated photonics. It is built on the foundation of the Photonic Systems Manufacturing Consortium (PSMC) Roadmap, funded by an AMTech grant from the U.S. agency NIST. The IPSR uses processes and lessons learned from previous roadmap developments by two IPSR and PSMC partners: iNEMI and the MIT Microphotonics Center. The IPSR roadmap is now part of the AIM Academy, which is the roadmapping and workforce development effort of the AIM Photonics institute. AIM Photonics is a manufacturing institute of Manufacturing USA, overseen by the U.S. federal government. OIDA has contributed to the roadmapping process and makes this executive summary available to interest our members in the complete document. OIDA distributed the PSMC final report to members in January 2017, along with a related roadmap—an ITRS 2.0 chapter on heterogeneous integration.
The document downloadable here is the executive summary of the first edition of the IPSR, released 8 March 2017, with 34 pages. The complete roadmap has 408 pages and is available directly from the AIM Academy website, here.
