OSA Mourns the Loss of Lorenzo M. Narducci
Lorenzo M. Narducci, 64, of Havertown, PA, an OSA Fellow and a physics professor at Drexel University for 30 years, died Friday, July 21, 2006 in his home.
An expert in quantum optics, he published more than 200 technical papers and six books in the areas of quantum optics, laser physics, and nonlinear dynamical systems.
Recognized with many professional honors including the Drexel Research Award and the Drexel Lindback Award for distinguished teaching, Professor Narducci was the recipient of the 1991 Einstein Prize for Laser Optics, and the 1999 Lamb Medal for his contributions to the field of quantum fluctuations and quantum noise, particularly the quantum regression theorem applied to problems in modern quantum optics.
He was a Fellow of The American Physical Society and the Optical Society of America. He served as Editor of Optics Communications since 1987 and Associate Editor of Physical Review A since 1990. He also served as an elected Member of the Board of Progress in Optics, and as an Emeritus Member of the Franklin Institute.
Dr. Narducci is survived by his wife of 41 years, Rinamaria Mascarello Narducci; his son Francesco; another son, Robert; a daughter, Laura LeBaudy; his father, Franco; a brother; and two sisters.

A memorial service will be held at Drexel University in the coming weeks.
