The Optical Society Announces 2020 OSA Treasurer’s Award Recipient
Mary Wheeler is recognized for outstanding support of the Society’s digital strategies
WASHINGTON — The Optical Society (OSA) announced today that staff member Mary Wheeler, director, digital properties and information technology for OSA, has been awarded the 2020 OSA Treasurer’s Award.
Wheeler received the award “for exemplifying the type of leadership that promotes excellence amongst her coworkers, and outstanding support of the Society’s digital strategies.”
She was recognized on 15 September during the OSA Frontiers in Optics (FiO) + Laser Science (LS) Plenary Session.
“Mary’s commitment and leadership of the digital team has greatly enhanced the digital user experience for OSA’s websites and mobile applications, “said OSA CEO Elizabeth Rogan. “She has particularly done an outstanding job responding to this year’s pandemic challenge by working collaboratively across the organization to create virtual platforms for our global community.”
Wheeler has been recognized for empowering staff to produce compelling content for OSA digital platforms and leveraging new and existing technologies to enhance the online experience of the Society’s members and customers.
Established in 2016, the OSA Treasurer's Award recognizes an OSA staff member who makes significant contributions to organizational excellence, promotes and enacts innovative solutions or exemplifies inspirational leadership. Candidates are nominated by OSA members and staff.
