Newport Introduces the XPS-EDBL External High Power Driver for Brushless DC Motors
Irvine, CA – May 22, 2015 – Newport Corporation, a global leader in high precision motion and photonics solutions, is introducing the XPS-EDBL brushless DC motor driver. This external high-power driver is designed for demanding motion control applications requiring high acceleration, speed, and duty cycles. The XPS-EDBL is an extension to Newport’s XPS Universal Multi Axis Motion Controller.
The XPS-EDBL features 25A peak current, +96V DC voltage and up to 1,000 watts of continuous power. “Due to its high power, the XPS-EDBL driver can fully utilize brushless DC motors and maximize the performance of many Newport stages like the RGV and the IMS-LM Series”, says Beda Espinoza, Sr. Product Marketing Manager Motion at Newport. “Using the external driver with these stages will result in higher throughput due to higher acceleration, speed and force.”
The robust XPS-EDBL is ideally suited for industrial applications in highly demanding environments. The driver‘s electronics are fully protected with a 150 watt power resistor to dissipate regeneration energy (back EMF) and can be equipped with two optional cooling fans to limit the temperature rise.
