Newport Adds Gold to Its Line of Integrating Spheres
Irvine, CA – July 23, 2015 – Newport Corporation, a worldwide leader in photonics solutions, is adding diffused gold spheres to its existing line of integrating spheres and mounting accessories. Gold coated spheres provide a high level of diffuse reflectance in the wavelength range between 800 nm and 20 µm. Since the reflectance characteristics of gold for IR are superior to the standard barium sulfate coated or PTFE type integrating spheres, Newport’s diffused gold spheres is a perfect match for mid to far IR wavelength applications. A high damage threshold - four times greater than PTFE - and high thermal limit characteristics make the gold spheres an ideal choice for high power applications as well.
Newport’s diffused gold integrating spheres are available in 3, 4 and 6 inch versions with either 3 or 4 port configurations. To complement the spheres, Newport is also introducing a line of gold coated accessories such as port reducers, SMA fiber adapters, and port plugs.
