Demetri Psaltis

Fellow Demetri Psaltis is Professor of Optics, Director of the Optics Laboratory and Dean of the Engineering Schools at Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL). He received the PhD in Electrical Engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University in 1977. In 1980, he joined the faculty at the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, California. He moved to EPFL in 2006. He received the International Commission of Optics Prize, the Humboldt Award, the Emmett N. Leith Medal, and the Gabor Prize. More recently, he received the 2016 Joseph Fraunhofer Award/Robert M. Burley Prize. 

Psaltis’ has carried out research in Holography, Optical Information Systems, Optofluidics,  Biophotonics, Imaging, and Nonlinear Optics.
