Bahaa E.A. Saleh

Fellow Bahaa E.A. Saleh received a Bachelor of Science from Cairo University in 1966 and his PhD from Johns Hopkins University in 1971, both in electrical engineering.

Throughout his career, he has held positions at the University of Santa Catarina in Brazil, Kuwait University, Max Planck Institute in Germany, the University of California-Berkeley, the European Molecular Biology Laboratory, Columbia University, University of Vienna, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Boston University, and CREOL at the University of Central Florida, where he has been since 2009.

He has a wide range of research interests, and pursues them actively. Saleh is a founding editor of OPN, has served as editor-in-chief of the Journal of the Optical Society of America, was chairman of the Board of Editors, and is a Fellow. He has also received honors and memberships from IEEE, ICO, and others. From the Society, he was been awarded the C.E.K. Mees Medal, the Esther Hoffman Beller Medal, and the Stephen D. Fantone Distinguished Service Award.
