How long is an OSA membership term?

OSA offers 1, 3, 5 and 10 year memberships. Lifetime terms are also available. Visit Member Categories for more information.

How do I access my 50 free Optics InfoBase downloads member benefit?

Visit Optics InfoBase and click on “Log In.” You will be prompted to login using your email address and your OSA password. (Note: If you do not know your password, you can reset it online.) New users will be asked to agree to the terms of the “OSA User Agreement.” If you are a returning subscriber, once you login, you will have access to your 50 Optics InfoBase downloads, OPN Online, Optics Express and any additional journals you may have purchased.

I forgot my OSA password; how can I retrieve it?

If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it online by visiting the My Account section of OSA.org (this is located at the top blue bar of every page). You will be prompted to enter your email address.

What are the criteria for becoming an OSA Senior Member?

Individuals with a ten (10) year or greater record of professional and/or service accomplishment since the time of their highest degree are encouraged to apply for a Senior Member designation. If selected, individuals must have an active OSA Membership.

If you are not yet an OSA Member, you can enroll online. Additional criteria can be found by visiting www.osa.org/seniormember.

How do I change my address or other contact information?

If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it online by visiting the My Account section of OSA.org (this is located at the top blue bar of every page). You will be prompted to login using your email address and your OSA password. (Note: If you do not know your password, you can reset it online.) Once logged in, click on the “Contact Information” tab followed by the “Edit” button in the name and address information box to edit your contact information.

How do I access my Physics Today (PT) online subscription member benefit?

To access “Physics Today” online you must first establish an account by visiting AIP Scitation. You will be asked to provide the email address associated with your OSA membership.

How do I add/renew an OSA journal subscription?

You must be an active OSA member in order to subscribe to an OSA journal. Members may purchase or renew subscriptions at any time. Ways to subscribe:
  1. Online.

I am a student residing in a developing nation and cannot afford to pay for my membership dues. Do you offer assistance?

Dues assistance may be available. Please send a request to OSA Member Services by submitting a Help Ticket. In your request, please provide an overview of your studies and/or field of work and clearly demonstrate the need for the dues waiver.

I am working in a post doctorate program; which OSA member type should I select?

Please select OSA Recent Graduate membership when joining or renewing. Recent Graduate members

How do I access the Members-Only section of OSA.org?

When visiting OSA.org, you may access the Members-Only section by clicking on the “Members-Only” button in the navigation bar on the left side of the screen. You will be prompted to login using your email address and your OSA password. (Note: Your OSA password will be your member number unless you requested it to be changed.)

Can I see how many articles I’ve downloaded as part of my free Optics InfoBase downloads member benefit?

Click the“Member Only Login” link located at the top of this page. Once logged in, select “Optics InfoBase Benefit” from the left navigation. Then select "Activity Report." You will then have the ability to view your number of downloads for any time period you choose.

How can I get a replacement membership card?

Can OSA Fellows submit a designation request for Senior Membership?

Yes, OSA Fellows are welcome to submit a designation request for Senior Membership.

When is the next round of Senior Member approvals taking place?

Senior Member applications, including two brief endorsement statements from OSA Members, are due no later than February 28th of each year and are reviewed in May of that same year.

How do I update my technical group selections?

Individuals may update their technical groups by logging in to the My Account section of OSA.org (this is located at the top right corner of osa.org). You will be prompted to login using your email address and your OSA password. (Note: If you do not know your password, you can reset it online.) Once logged in, click on the “My Profile” tab followed by the “Edit” button in the Interest Areas information box to edit your technical group information.

How do I request an OSA Member Certificate?

OSA Members can request to receive a personalized member certificate signed by OSA’s Chief Executive Officer, Elizabeth Rogan. To do so, simply submit this online form. Please allow 3-4 weeks for receipt of your member certificate.
