OSA Welcomes New Editor of Applied Optics
Ron Driggers
Prior to founding St. Johns Optical Systems, Driggers was the Superintendent of the Optical Sciences Division at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory. Before that, he was the Director of the Modeling and Simulation Division at the U.S. Army’s Night Vision and Electronic Sensors Directorate (NVESD). Driggers is also a fellow of OSA and SPIE. During his career, he has served as an Applied Optics topical editor and as editor-in-chief of Optical Engineering.
“Applied Optics has a 50 year tradition of meeting the needs of academia and industry,” said Elizabeth Nolan, deputy executive director and chief publishing officer at OSA. “OSA wanted to ensure that the next leader of the Journal continued to embrace these communities and also had a strong vision for its future. Given Driggers’ extensive background in government labs, industry, and publishing, he is the ideal candidate to achieve these goals. The Applied Optics team is eager to work with Driggers and to see the Journal continue to flourish under his strong leadership.”
