Philippe Bregi Biography
Since November 2004, Philippe Bregi has been the Chairman & CEO of the Egide’s group, specialized in the manufacture of hermetic packages for sensitive electronic components. The group is active in high tech sectors, including Aerospace, Defense, Security, Aeronautics, Telecommunications, Automotives and Medicine.
Before Egide, Bregi held the position of Avanex France’s CEO as well as Avanex VP, in charge of the Active Discrete Business Unit, since the acquisition of Alcatel Optronics by Avanex in July 2003.
He previously was Chief Operating Officer of Alcatel Optronics, a position he assumed in January 2000 after serving as VP Marketing & Sales from 1993 to 2000.
Bregi joined the Alcatel CIT transmission division in 1983 with responsibility for U.S. projects. He subsequently served as marketing manager and product line manager for transport systems, which included line equipment, multiplexers and crossconnects. From 1990 to 1993, he was worldwide Alcatel product line manager for SDH/ SONET systems.
A graduate of Ecole Centrale de Lyon with an engineering degree, Bregi earned a master's degree in business administration from the Institut d’Administration d’Entreprises. He began his professional career with Thomson CSF microwave links division as a project engineer in charge of turnkey projects from 1977 to 1983.
Since January 2008, Brégi is also the President of the Opticsvalley association, the cluster devoted to the high technologies in the Paris Region. Moreover, since July 2012, he serves as President of the CNOP, the French National Committee for Optics & Photonics, which gathers all French national and regional bodies involved with photonics technology.
