Technical Group Leadership Open Nominations

The OSA is looking for enthusiastic, self-motivated people to help raise the level of engagement within the Technical Groups (TGs). You can help engage the technical community in your area of interest by applying to lead one of the Technical Groups in which there is a vacancy.
Key Duties Include:
  • Appointing an Executive Committee within three months of start date
  • Ensuring that the Technical Group is actively engaging its community in a useful manner, by suggesting meaningful activities that promote engagement within this community.
  • Submitting reports to the Board of Meetings, twice per year.
  • Participating in regular calls with other chairs in your division
If you are interested in applying to serve as the leader of a Technical Group that has a vacant leadership position, please submit your CV, a photo (photo not mandatory, but strongly encouraged) and a motivation statement including a list of activities you would like to develop in order to engage your respective technical community. If you are applying for more than one vacancy, be sure to make your answer applicable to all groups in which you are applying.

Examples of activities include:
  1. Regular communications (e.g. distribution list announcements and listservs).
  2. Create and maintain active and engaged social media/networking functions (e.g., SharePoint, Google Plus, Twitter, Facebook, and/or LinkedIn).
  3. Organization of networking events at OSA sponsored meetings and community events.
  4. Nominate candidates to serve on award committees.
  5. Nominate candidates for awards and recognize outstanding achievement of TG members.
  6. Suggest creation of awards and prizes as warranted.
  7. Recommend and/or organize workshops and other technical sessions at OSA meetings and   events.
  8. Interact with Local Sections and Student Chapters.
  9. Recommend and organize webinars, web‐based trainings, conferences or technical reports.
  10. Other activities.
The above list serves as examples of possible activities.  You are in no way obligated to implement all items on the list. This list also does not limit the activities you can engage in; it is simply to help you brainstorm.
Please note: your Executive Committee will be in place to help you manage and implement activities.
