OSA welcomes Ron Driggers as the new editor-in-chief of Applied Optics.

Researchers at Montana State University and Brandenburg University of Applied Sciences in Germany have created a simple mathematical model based on optical measurements that explains the stunning colors of Yellowstone National Park’s hot springs.

Newly published in OSA journal Biomedical Optics Express, a team of researchers from Central South University in China have demonstrated that a technique known as photoacoustic imaging has the potential to be a new, faster, cheaper, and non-invasive method to detect, diagnose, and stage cervical cancer with high accuracy.

The bipartisan Revitalize American Manufacturing and Innovation Act (RAMI), in the $1.1 trillion FY2015 Omnibus Appropriations bill, passed the House on December 11 and subsequently passed the Senate on December 13.
