The OSA Foundation Announces Location for 2018 Siegman International School on Lasers

WASHINGTON — The Siegman International School on Lasers, a weeklong, immersive program, providing students with an in-depth learning environment on lasers and their applications has confirmed the locations for the 2018 schools. The 2018 summer school will take place at the Spirit of Hven Backafallsbyn, on the Island of Hven, Sweden from 29 July – 4 August, 2018.

“The Siegman International School on Lasers continues to be a marquee program for the OSA Foundation and the optics and photonics community,” said Chad Stark, Executive Director, The OSA Foundation. “The Siegman School attendees interact with industry leaders in a small group setting, hear from innovative featured speakers and participate in unique networking opportunities that connect them to colleagues from around the world.”

The Siegman International School on Lasers was established in honor of Anthony E. Siegman, 1999 President of The Optical Society, founding board member of The OSA Foundation and a widely known expert on lasers and optics. This program is co-founded by IPG Photonics and endowed by donors from around the world. Past summer school hosts include Centro de Investigaciones en Óptica, Leon, Mexico, ICFO Institute of Photonics Sciences, Spain, Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light, Germany and Stanford University, USA. The application process for the 2018 Siegman School opens 1 December 2017.
