Broadband demand continues to increase at an exponential pace and is a pressing topic for the communications technology industry. According to a recent report from IGI Group, “How Much Bandwidth Is Enough in the Access Network?”, the predominant driver for bandwidth in the access network is going to be HD video; that voice and even high-speed data will become almost incidental; and that many of the technologies currently being employed will not be capable of meeting this bandwidth demand. Technology experts from around the world will converge at OFC/NFOEC to report and discuss how optics will accommodate FTTx and other significant bandwidth drivers. As the largest and most comprehensive international event for optical communications, this year’s combined OFC/NFOEC will host the entire scope of optical communications, providing exhibits, live demonstrations and educational activities for all audiences. |

About OFC/NFOEC: Since 1985, the Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exposition (OFC) has provided an annual backdrop for the optical communications field to network and share research and innovations. In 2004, OFC joined forces with the National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference (NFOEC) creating the largest and most comprehensive international event for optical communications. By combining an exposition of approximately 600 companies with a unique line up of peer-reviewed technical programming and special focused educational sessions, OFC/NFOEC provides an unparalleled opportunity reaching every audience from service providers to optical equipment manufacturers and beyond.
OFC/NFOEC, www.ofcnfoec.org, is managed by the Optical Society of America (OSA) and co-sponsored by OSA, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers/Communications Society (IEEE/ComSoc) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers/Lasers and Electro-Optics Society (IEEE/LEOS). Acting as a non-financial technical co-sponsor is Telcordia Technologies, Inc.
