Interviewing and Working in a (Post-)Pandemic World

As COVID-19's disruptions have abated, many companies and organizations have been bringing remote employees back into the office through "hybrid" arrangements that include both on-site and at-home work. The advent of such innovative work arrangements has permanently changed the dynamics of forging the networks and personal relationships that remain essential to building a career.

In a recent issue of Optics's Optics & Photonics News, 2016 Optica President Alan Eli Willner offered advice on techniques for remote employment interviews and relationship-building in light of these new realities. Writes Willner: "The fundamentals of interviewing and working haven't changed as a result of the pandemic, but the techniques certainly have—in ways we are only beginning to understand."
