Sample Letter of Intent

This is a letter of intent for the formation of the ______________________, an OSA Local Section serving the ________ area. We have had one meeting already. I have enclosed a list of nominated officers, a draft of our bylaws, and a roster of members.

It is the aim of _____ to stimulate interest in optics; promote and disseminate the knowledge of optics, the engineering of optical systems and closely allied sciences; to promote the mutual needs & interests of its members, scientists, engineers, teachers, students and skilled workers in these fields; and to encourage free discussions of problems and discoveries among investigators of optical problems, designers, manufacturers, and users of optical apparatus. _____ will also sponsor a special award at the regional or state Science and Engineering Fair to recognize high school students with interest and talent in optics and optical technology.
