Online Conference Program
The program for the Nonlinear Photonics (NP) Topical Meeting will be held Sunday, September 2, 2007 through Thursday, September 6, 2007. In this section, you will find information about NP speakers, abstracts and the agenda of sessions. This information will be posted as we receive it; please be sure to check back often.
Searchable Conference Program Available Online

You may search the session information without creating an account; however, you will not be able to create or save a session schedule. We strongly recommend that you create a user account first.
Nonlinear Photonics Topical Meeting
The Nonlinear Photonics Topical Meeting has its origins in and replaces the Nonlinear Guided Waves meetings of the past. The intention of this meeting is to gather together theorists and experimentalists from around the world who are interested in nonlinear optical processes in devices and structures in order to define the state-of-the-art in this field and to enable interactions and collaborations.
The program topics will include:
Temporal Effects
- Nonlinear effects in fibers
- Nonlinear pulse propagation in fiber
- Temporal solitons in fibers
- Cascaded and second order nonlinearities
Computational Analysis, Design and Modeling of Dissipative and
Conservative Systems
- FDTD
- Dissapative solitons and ultra-short pulse modelling
- Active device modelling
- System modelling:
Poling, Spatial and Periodic Nonlinear Effects (NP and BGPP joint Plenary)
- Spatial optical solitons, self-trapping, and self-guiding effects
- Nonlinear guided modes in waveguides and at nonlinear interfaces, self-trapping effects in waveguide arrays and discrete spatial solitons
- Nonlinear effects in periodic structures
- Spatial pattern formation in nonlinear cavities and waveguides
- Active and dissipative effects
- Nonlinear modes and solitons in trapped Bose-Einstein Condensates and optical lattices; nonlinear
guided-wave atom-optics
- Waveguide and glass poling
“All-Optical Devices and Applications” Symposia Topics:
Nonlinear Devices and Systems
- All-Optical Communications Devices and Systems
- Nonlinear Measurement and Detection
Novel Nonlinear Materials and Structures
- Novel Nonlinear Materials
- Quasi-phase matched structures: cascaded nonlinearities, designer gratings
- Metamaterials
- Fabrication of micro and nano-structured materials, Bragg gratings, micro-ring resonators, and optimized nonlinear materials
- Novel aspects of nonlinear materials
