Bragg Gratings, Photosensitivity and Poling in Glass Waveguides (BGPP)

BGPP addresses all aspects of grating structures, photosensitivity, glass relaxation and poling in optical fiber and waveguides from physical fundamentals, properties and fabrication approaches to applications.

BGPP continues to be a popular meeting for covering the state-of-the-art advances in fiber and waveguide gratings in a relaxed and nonpressured atmosphere. The program is tailored for informal exchanges, forming new partnerships, and reconnecting with colleagues. Attendees come from around the world to participate in this exchange of knowledge.  The meeting topics are divided into three main themes: fundamentals of photosensitivity, glass relaxation and poling, properties of grating structures and techniques used in their fabrication, and applications of gratings, glass relaxation and poled glass.

Symposium: Fiber Bragg Gratings - From Laboratory to the Real World

As a part of the 2016 BGPP Topical Meeting, papers are sought that describe efforts to transition the fiber Bragg grating, FBG, technology from a low technology readiness level to industrial application. Specifically, papers are being solicited that cover processes of moving the FBG technology from laboratories of academia through small R&D efforts to much broader industrial applications.

The topics of solicited papers include but are not limited to:
•Performance of FBG systems in real environments;
•Miniaturization efforts to make entire FBG systems suitable for on-board, in-flight, and other applications with space and weight limitations;
•Integration and packaging of the FBGs;
•Effects of harsh environments (temperature, pressure, etc.) on the performance of FBG systems;
•Signal processing of data from fiber Bragg gratings and system integration of FBGs with signal processing units; •Standardization efforts for different industries and applications;
•Specialized applications of FBGs in communication, oil and gas industry, aerospace missions, and other areas.
