Propagation through and Characterization of Distributed Volume Turbulence (pcDVT)

pcDVT is a forum for the presentation of research in the field of distributed volume turbulence, to include the characterization of the disturbance, as well as, propagation through it.
pcDVT will focus on the underlying physics of optical wave propagation in distributed volume turbulence; testing the validity of existing theories, identifying gaps and issues, and developing new approaches to explain the complex nature of this environment and its influence on beam propagation. We intend to cultivate a multidisciplinary exchange of information designed to expanding our understanding of the full complexity of distributed turbulence; drawing on the most recent results from the fields of boundary layer physics, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, meteorology, laser sciences, and singular optics. The conversation will extend to cover topics formerly not associated with distributed volume turbulence, such as the creation of photonic orbital angular momentum and parallels between Earth’s atmosphere and Galactic molecular clouds. Through this forum we seek to assemble a broad consortium of researchers quintessentially engaged in this endeavor.
