Felipe is an assistant professor at the National Institute of Telecommunications, (INATEL, Brazil). Actually, he works with spatially variant materials looking for new electromagnetic functionalities. Applying the new possibilities offered by the 3D printing technology to explore novel ways to manipulate THz radiation.


Felipe has a bachelor in physics (Universidad del Valle, Colombia) and a PhD (Universitat de Valencia, Spain), both with honors. Later, he made a postdoc at the University of Campinas (Unicamp, Brazil). And as a professor he has lectured on universities in Brazil and Spain, mainly on Numerical Analysis for undergraduates; and Computational Electromagnetics and Photonics, for master students. In 2016 he was an invited researcher at Prof. Martin Koch's group at the University of Marburg (Germany).


In 2005, as an undergraduate student, Felipe was the first president and co-founder of the first Colombian chapter (CUVO). This chapter is actually active and they keep doing activities that involve optics with the community, following the spirit of its original mission. In 2016, as a professor, he has joined a group of motivated students to form an OSA chapter (INATEL Photonics Chapter), the second OSA chapter at the state of Minas Gerais.
