Established by Newport in 2010, this program recognizes the research excellence of students presenting their work at the Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics (CLEO: 2011) to be held May 1 – 6 at the Baltimore Convention Center.

    In a unique program designed to help organizations build stronger relationships with OSA’s Student Chapters, Coherent, Inc., one of the world’s leading providers of lasers and laser-based solutions, is offering financial support to six Chapters in Brazil, China, and India. The sponsorship, part of the OSA Foundation’s (OSAF) “Adopt a Student Chapter Program,” will also allow Student Chapter members to build relationships with professional staff at Coherent, Inc.

    The OSA Foundation and Corning Incorporated today announced the finalists of the Corning Outstanding Student Paper Competition, which recognizes future leaders in optical communications. The winners will be recognized during this year’s Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exposition/National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference (OFC/NFOEC) to be held March 6 – 10 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
