OSA Foundation and International Commission for Optics Announce Donation Partnership

The OSA Foundation (OSAF) today announced a new fiscal sponsorship agreement with the International Commission for Optics (ICO) that will allow charitable donations made to the OSA Foundation to be earmarked for ICO outreach activities.

OSA Foundation, HRL Laboratories LLC, the IEEE Photonics Society and the APS Division of Laser Science today announced Hugo Benichi of the University of Tokyo, Japan as the winner of the annual Theodore Maiman Student Paper Competition.
Students Awarded Newport Travel Grants for CLEO 2011

Established by Newport in 2010, this program recognizes the research excellence of students presenting their work at the Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics (CLEO: 2011) to be held May 1 – 6 at the Baltimore Convention Center.
Students Receive Incubic/Milton Chang Travel Grants to Present Papers at CLEO 2011

The OSA Foundation, HRL Laboratories LLC, the IEEE Photonics Society and the APS Division of Laser Science today announced the three finalists for the annual Theodore Maiman Student Paper Competition. The winner of the competition will be announced during this year’s Conference on Lasers and Electro Optics (CLEO: 2011) to be held May 1 – 6 at the Baltimore Convention Center.

In a unique program designed to help organizations build stronger relationships with OSA’s Student Chapters, Coherent, Inc., one of the world’s leading providers of lasers and laser-based solutions, is offering financial support to six Chapters in Brazil, China, and India. The sponsorship, part of the OSA Foundation’s (OSAF) “Adopt a Student Chapter Program,” will also allow Student Chapter members to build relationships with professional staff at Coherent, Inc.

The OSA Foundation and Corning Incorporated today announced the finalists of the Corning Outstanding Student Paper Competition, which recognizes future leaders in optical communications. The winners will be recognized during this year’s Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exposition/National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference (OFC/NFOEC) to be held March 6 – 10 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
