IONS Campinas 2016 jul. 14 - 17 2016 Description:
The IONS® is a conference organized by students, for students. Expect a great environment to exchange knowledge and experiences on science, technology and chapter activities. You will be in contact with great students from different parts of the world, listen to talks given by great local and international researchers and have a great time in social and cultural events. The OSA Student Chapter at UNICAMP is now organizing its second IONS®, the third in South America. We scheduled four days of great professional development, network building and fun. The program we organized have students’s technical talks, chapter activities discussions, outreach activity, plenaries, a Physics in industry pannel, tourism both in Sao Paulo and Campinas and social events every night. You can check the detailed schedule on the Program page. The IONS® Campinas 2016 will be held just before the Sao Paulo School of Advanced Science on Nanophotonics (SPSAS Nanophotonics – July 17th to 29th), which will take place right here at UNICAMP in Campinas. This is going to be a two week school to which you are invited to participate (check their website for more details). Registration to the IONS® Campinas will be open from April 1st to June 1st. IONS KOALA 2016 nov. 27 - 02 2016 Description:
IONS KOALA 2016 is the 9th Conference on Optics, Atoms and Laser Applications (KOALA) held annually in Australia and New Zealand as well as an International OSA Network of Students (IONS) conference sponsored by The Optical Society (OSA). IONS KOALA 2016 is being co-hosted by the Monash University OSA Student Chapter and the Swinburne University of Technology joint OSA/SPIE Student Chapter, and with the support of many fantastic organisations, our goal is to bring together a large groups of Honours, Masters and PhD students currently conducting research in any field of optics, atoms and laser applications in Australia, New Zealand and the world KOALA encompasses a broad variety of topics within the field of optics and photonics. These include but are not limited to atomic, molecular and optical physics, quantum optics, spectroscopy, micro and nanofabrication, biomedical imaging, metrology, nonlinear optics and laser physics research. Most attendees are at the very beginning of their careers, so this is a great way to discover a wide range of possible directions within the world of optics and photonics! KOALA is designed to allow students to discuss their research whilst providing them with a chance to network with their peers who are working in various universities across a variety of fields. Our aim is that students gain a fresh perspective as well as the opportunity to learn about exciting research being conducted. Students will also get the chance to develop valuable communication skills through presenting their research to their peers working in a variety of fields. Registration fees are kept as low as possible in keeping with KOALA’s aim of providing an open and positive environment for students at all levels to present and discuss their research.
