IONS Tunis 2015 sep. 02 - 05 2015 Description:
The Optics and Photonics Tunisia Student Chapter is delighted to host the First North African IONS conference in Tunisia from 2-5 September 2015. This conference is part of the International OSA Network of Students (IONS) conference series which brings together optics and photonics students from around the world. The IONS conference will be held in concert with the Federation of Optics College and University Students (FOCUS) conference sponsored by SPIE. IONS Tunis 2015 is a 4-day conference targeted at PhD, MSc and engineer students working in the field of optics and photonics. During this conference students will get the opportunity to present their latest scientific results, discuss their difficulties, and share their experiences. With this conference, we will help students to become better aware of a possible career in sciences. To meet new friends and colleagues from another culture will enable the participants to share their own experience and learn from each other. In addition, this conference will develop new and innovative networking opportunities for the students. The main goals of the conference are: –Network by moving beyond our borders and engaging with international students. –Discuss scientific results. –Share experiences. Since 2015 has been declared by the UN the International Year of Light and Light-based technologies, the scope of this conference is to: –Raise awareness of the beauty and accessibility of science through the given seminars in optics and photonics. –Address the important ways light technology and its many applications will be a key drivers of innovation in the 21st century. –Address the definitive need of African countries to have better-prepared researchers in optics and photonics to pass on their skills to younger generations through experience presenting, discussing and sharing the latest scientific results.
Technical Conference
Future of Ultrashort Pulses sep. 18 - 18 2015 Description:
The goal of this series of workshops is the bring together the leaders and young researchers in the ultrafast and attosecond communities to share our progress and goals towards the next generation of sources and their application to fundamental science. How will the pioneering experiments in the synthesis of multi-octave light transients be continued and expanded? How can the new generation of broadband parametric amplifiers with unprecedented combinations of average and peak power contribute, and what are the technical challenges in the way? We hope to bring together the community to discuss the work to be done, and to share our progress as it unfolds with a trilogy of annual workshops, as follows: 2015: OPCPA and enabling technologies for the next generation of femtosecond science 2016: Generation and control of lightwave transients 2017: Applications of lightwave transients to condensed matter physics and beyond
IONS Valencia 2015 sep. 24 - 26 2015 Description:

IONS KOALA 2015 nov. 23 - 27 2015 Description:
IONS KOALA is the Conference on Optics, Atoms and Laser Applications (KOALA) held annually in Australia and New Zealand as well as an International OSA Network of Students (IONS) conference sponsored by The Optical Society (OSA). With the support of many fantastic organisations, our goal is to bring together a large groups of Honours, Masters and PhD students currently conducting research in any field of optics, atoms and laser applications in New Zealand, Australia and the world! IONS KOALA is designed to allow students to discuss their research whilst providing them with a chance to network with their peers who are working in various universities across a variety of fields. Our aim is that students gain a fresh perspective as well as the opportunity to learn about exciting research being conducted. Students will also get the chance to develop valuable communication skills through presenting their research to their peers working in a variety of fields. Registration fees are kept as low as possible in keeping with KOALA’s aim of providing an open and positive environment for students at all levels to present and discuss their research.
