OIDA Sponsored Webinar: Imec 200 mm (8-inch) Low Loss SiN Platform and Its Applications in 3D Sensing, Communication, Life Science and Quantum

01 April 2021 10:00 - 11:00

Eastern Time (US & Canada) (UTC -05:00)

In this webinar, we will present imec’s wafer-scale CMOS compatible low loss and high power handling SiN photonic platforms and its capabilities to address multiple application domains. This platform has been developed over more than ten years using imec’s 8-inch pilot-line for industrial use-cases such as communication, sensing, life science, quantum, lidar, etc. imec has been offering SiN technology platforms as a product for more than four years in volume. Additionally, the platform is fully flexible in terms of design and technology, allowing for tweak-and-tune with respect to individual customer requirements.

Speaker

Dr. Amin Abbasi, Business Development Manager, IMEC

Dr. Amin Abbasi finished his Ph.D. degree in Ultra-high-speed directly modulated DFB lasers from the Ghent University in 2016, continuing his research at imec/UGent on 100Gb/s single-channel EAM modulators till 2017. From 2017 to 2020, he worked in AntwerpSpace/OHB as a Photonic Team Leader on microwave photonics for satellite optical communication. He has contributed to various development projects for the Space segment, such as OBF for SAR radar, Q-band frequency converter, and receiver development for free-space communication. Amin joined imec in Sep 2020 as a Business Development Manager, covering imec SiN/Si 200mm photonic platforms for sensing applications. His current focus is on photonic integrated circuits for novel applications such as quantum, optical beamforming for LiDAR, sensors for life science and communication. He has (co-)authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications.
