Student members are an important and active part of the OSA community. Student benefits are built around the unique needs of those preparing to enter the professional world of optics. As an OSA Student Member, you join a worldwide community of optics and photonics scientists, engineers and business leaders.

Benefits extended to students at this meeting include the:

OSA Foundation Student Travel Grants

Students from qualifying developing nations are eligible for an OSA Foundation Student Travel Grant of $1,500 USD to help cover travel costs associated with attending this meeting. Students are NOT required to be an OSA Member, but preference will be given to those who are.

Requirements:
  • Applicants must be an undergraduate or graduate student in a qualifying developing nation.
  • Applicants must be the submitting author of a paper.
  • Applicants must apply through the submission site when submitting their paper.
Applicants will be judged on the quality of their submitted paper. The deadline to apply mimics the paper submission deadline for this meeting. Should you have any questions, please contact the OSA Foundation at foundationgrants@osa.org.

How to Be Effective

  • Complete a submission.  OSA encourages students to submit papers as they are frequently chosen to deliver oral and poster presentation.
  • Apply for an OSA Student Travel grant if you are from a developing nation.
