Getting to Australia
Canberra International Airport (CBR) serves Australia's capital city, Canberra, and the city of Queanbeyan, NSW with air travel to Canberra with daily domestic flights from interstate airports such as Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth or Brisbane. Major airlines fly daily and you can book flights with domestic and international carriers Qantas and Virgin Australia.

Traveling Between Sydney and Canberra
Arriving by plane - it is preferable to arrive in Sydney airport in the early morning or mid-afternoon. This will give you sufficient time to travel to Canberra after your arrival in Sydney.
Most international airlines do not fly into Canberra airport. International delegates arriving at Sydney airport will need to make further arrangements to travel to Canberra.
It is recommended that delegates take the bus from Sydney to Canberra. The bus is inexpensive (roughly $25), and the Canberra bus terminal (Jolimont Centre) is extremely close to ANU. Delegates will be able to enjoy the 5-10min walk or catch a shuttle bus to the ANU Campus.
The bus services available are: Murrays or Greyhound
The bus terminals for Murrays and Greyhound are a short stroll from the Sydney airport international arrival gate (near the pick-up zone).
It is recommended that delegates using bus services should book tickets early as they are commonly sold out.
If delegates choose to use the bus to commute back to Sydney for their departure flight, a return bus ticket can be purchased.
Take the scenic route from Sydney to Canberra with Murrays Motorcoach. Murrays makes your travel to and from Sydney and Canberra a breeze. There are hourly departures between 04:00 - 19:00 between Syndey's International Airport to Canberra's Jolimont Centre. Check here for timetables. Tickets must be booked on website.
Greyhound offers services from the Sydney International Airport to the Canberra Jolimont Centre. Check here for timetables. We advise that you purchase your tickets in advance prior to arriving onsite.
Arriving via Plane in Canberra:
For delegates considering taking a domestic flight from Sydney to Canberra, the available airlines are Virgin Blue, Jet Star and Qantas. There is a taxi stand outside the arrivals gate.
Note: If you are an international delegate arriving at the international arrivals gate in Sydney, you will need to catch an airport shuttle bus to the domestic terminal where you can catch your flight to Canberra. A fee is required to catch the airport shuttle bus.
Taxi services to Canberra airport
Taxi services are available to and from the airport and city and an approximate fare for the airport to the city is in the order of $30 (fare is an estimate only based on fare calculator).
There is an Airliner shuttle buses from the airport, for your convenience. Or else you can catch a taxi to your accommodation. The Canberra Airport is only about 15 minutes from the ANU.Getting to the Australian National University (ANU)
Arriving by train or bus
If you do not wish to catch a taxi from the station to the ANU (about a ten minute trip), you can catch bus Route 39 or bus Route 80 (they run at least every half hour between 07:30 and 22:30) to the city centre. Bus fares within Canberra are all $3.00 regardless of destination. Ask the driver for a transfer ticket - this will allow you to transfer at the City Interchange (Bay 5) to a Route 34 bus (running every half-hour) which will take you past the Research School of Humanities, Liversidge Apartments, University House and Burgmann College at the ANU.
