Light is changing our view on cardiovascular disease and therapy. Following the successful clinical introduction of optical coherence tomography and near-infrared spectroscopy, several other new techniques are on the verge of translation. We are preparing the third meeting on light-based methods in cardiology: Optics in Cardiology, to be held on March 11 to 13, 2015, in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Across the three days of the symposium, we will provide a forum for the latest breakthroughs in applications of light in cardiovascular medicine, highlighting clinical and technological advances in the field. The conference aims to educate clinicians about current practice and new techniques, and expose engineers to first-hand accounts of clinical needs. The program will allow ample time for discussion and interaction with the speakers.
