In Memoriam, OSA Fellow, Hilda Kingslake
OSA Fellow (Emeritus) Hilda Conrady Kingslake passed away on February 14, two days shy of her 101st birthday. A long-time member of OSA, Kingslake had published extensively and was the author of the "History of the Optical Society of America, 1916-1966" and "The First 50 Years- the Institute of Optics 1929-1979." She was the daughter of A.E. Conrady, the professor of optical design at London's Imperial College. Kingslake and her husband, Rudolf Kingslake, both were students there, and presented separate papers in 1923 before the Optical Society (London). In 1928, the two moved to Rochester, New York, for the school's newly formed Institute of Optics.
Kingslake is survived by her husband, an Honorary Member of OSA, and her daughter-in-law, Joan Kingslake, of Pennsylvania. Services will be private. Contributions in Kingslake's memory may be made to:
