OSA and EESI to Host Congressional Caucus Briefing on Solar Energy in America
Experts to discuss breakthrough technologies, how solar energy can play greater role in meeting U.S. energy needs
Solar power is both a clean and abundant energy source, producing electric power from photovoltaic cells and through large-scale thermal technology known as concentrating solar power. Experts believe the United States has the potential to greatly expand the use of this alternative energy source, while also creating jobs and strengthening energy security.
The Optical Society (OSA) and the Environmental and Energy Study Institute (EESI), in conjunction with the House Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Caucus, invite reporters to a congressional briefing to hear experts in the field discuss:
- Current solar technology and near-term applications
- U.S. investments in solar R&D by industry and government
- Specific policies that will spur future development and promote the widespread use of solar energy
