Dr. Fiddy joined the University of North Carolina in Charlotte in 2002 as the founding director of the Center for Optoelectronics and Optical Communications. The Center houses state-of-the-art photonics fabrication and test facilities, 25 optics-related faculty and is home to 40 Optical Science and Engineering Ph.D. students. Fiddy has over 130 refereed publications, 12 book chapters and over 300 conference publications.
Fiddy also serves on OSA’s Meetings Council and was Topical Editor for JOSAA for signal and image processing from 1994 until 2001. He is a fellow of SPIE, OSA, IOP, the Electromagnetics Academy and a senior member of the IEEE. Dr. Fiddy received a B.Sc. and Ph.D. from London University. Prior to joining UNC Charlotte, Fiddy was ECE Department Head at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell from 1994 to 2001 and a faculty member at Kings College London.
