Winter 2013

Dear MWOSA Members:

Happy Holidays and welcome to the latest edition of the Minorities and Women in OSA (MWOSA) e-newsletter! This newsletter is part of the special programming and services OSA provides in support of minority and female members of in community.

During 2013 FiO, OSA hosted a MWOSA Networking Reception featuring WiSTEE Founder and Chairperson Dr. Jie Qiao. The video of Dr. Jie Qiao’s presentation is now posted online – view it here! Note: you will need an osa.org login to view this video. You may use your member login or create one easily at the link provided.

Each year, the December issue of Optics & Photonics News—the monthly magazine of The Optical Society—highlights the most exciting optics research to emerge in the preceding 12 months. We encourage anyone who has recently conducted notable peer-reviewed research to send a brief summary of their work to be considered for publication in the issue. To do so, please visit Prism, OSA’s new online submission system. Submissions are now open for 2014.

Finally, I'd like to share information about OSA Incubator Meetings. OSA recently initiated this new form of meeting to provide unique and focused experiences, allowing researchers, engineers and business leaders of niche fields a valuable opportunity to meet and discuss advances, challenges and opportunities regarding their research. Learn more about upcoming OSA Incubator meetings here!

Happy New Year!
