The Latin America Optics & Photonics Conference (LAOP) will bring together experts working on important scientific advances in the optics fields include micro and nano-photonics, laser science and technology, atomic physics, advances in the development and use of modern spectroscopy, and quantum optics to mention a few. The meeting also has rich content of optical technologies ranging from the latest results in lighting and illumination engineering, the use of optical approaches in information sciences and optical communications to the latest developments in optical technologies for use in biomedical applications and clinical studies.

A number of distinguished invited speakers have been invited to present at the meeting. In addition, the organizers have planned a number of special events to make your meeting experience more enjoyable!

Special Events

Conference Reception
The conference welcome reception will be on Saturday, 10 November from 18.30 - 19.30. The reception will feature light fare and is open to all full technical attendees. Conference attendees may purchase extra tickets for their guest.

General Session
The conference will feature a General Session on Sunday 11 November from 8.00 - 10.00. Keynote speakers include Carlos Henrique de Brito Cruz, Philip Russell and Donna Strickland.

Poster Sessions
Two poster sessions will take place during the conference. They will be held on Monday, November 12 and Tuesday, November 13 from 10.30 - 11.30. Posters are an integral part of the technical program and offer a unique networking opportunity, where presenters can discuss their results one-to-one with interested parties. Presenters will be provide with a poster stand that is ,90 m wide by 1,0 m high.  This will be a stand so posters will need to match these dimensions. 

Postdeadline Session
The Postdeadline session is an opportunity to showcase the most late-breaking innovations in the field. The session will take place on Monday, November 12 from 17.30 - 19.30.

Conference Banquet
On Monday, 12 November at 20:30 attendees will be transferred to Viela da Praia for the conference banquet.  The evening will feature multiple course including traditional Brazilian favorites: Seafood Tartlet, Potato cream with dried Beef and Cabbage Crisps, Shrimp Bobó, Penine with cubes of Filet Mignon with Capers and Olives Azapa, Shrimp Gabriela, Grilled Fish Sauce Seafood, Banana Cuca, Romeo and Juliet dessert and Caipirinhas. Guest will be entertained by a Brazilian Music Quartet and Samba Show. 

The banquet is open to all full technical attendees. Conference attendees may purchase extra tickets for their guest.
Suggest dress: Cocktail attire, with jacket optional.
