Optics for Solar Energy (SOLAR)

02 - 05 November 2015
Soochow University Dushu Lake Campus, Suzhou, China

The progress in solar energy has been driven by the fields of optics, solid-state physics, thermal science, materials and chemistry. They play a key role in the development of present and future solar energy technologies. Optical elements are used for collecting, guiding, concentrating, coupling, trapping, transforming and absorbing the light in solar energy systems.

The Optics for Solar Energy (SOLAR) Conference focuses on optical science and its applications to solar energy conversion, mainly in the areas of solar thermal, concentrating photovoltaics and new-type solar cell such as perovskite solar cell, two dimensional semiconductor devices, organic solar cell, nano-structured semiconductor solar cell and so on, but not limited on the above mentioned novel type SOLAR technology. All these areas are experiencing rapid progress, which strongly relies on the advances in efficiency, cost, and reliability of their optical elements. Fundamental and applied concepts are addressed at the conference and they include the design, modeling, optimization, integration, experimental evaluation, manufacturability, reliability, and techno-economics of solar energy systems, as well as the use of novel materials in all aspects of such systems.

This conference has attracted professionals and scientists from many different scientific and industrial areas, creating a multidisciplinary arena to discuss technical challenges beyond the state-of-the-art. Optical scientists, physicists, engineers and industry managers are brought together to discuss the most novel developments in the field with the aim of improving the competitiveness of solar energy.

Congress Special Events

Daily Lunches

Daily lunches are included with all technical registration. This is an excellent time to continue to network with your colleagues and continue discussions on the latest research. Location and times of the lunches will be on the onsite program.

Plenary and Keynote Sessions

The Light, Energy and the Environment Congress will feature one Joint Plenary session and four Joint Keynote Sessions.  Don’t miss the leaders of the different disciplines give innovative talks.

Poster Previews

Monday, 2 November, 13:30 – 14:00
Tuesday, 3 November, 09:15 - 09:45 and 13:30 – 14:00

There are three poster preview sessions taking place before the Tuesday Poster Session. These sessions allow each poster presenter to have a few minutes to highlight their research to the entire Congress and give the attendees a quick, concise look at the poster before interacting with authors.

Congress Banquet

Monday, 2 November, 19:30 – 21:00

Kick-off the congress and join your fellow attendees for the Congress Banquet. Come and taste the local cuisine. The reception is open to all full congress attendees. Congress attendees may purchase extra tickets for their guest.

Joint Poster Session: JTu5A

Wednesday, 3 November, 18:30 – 20:00

Poster presentations offer an effective way to communicate new research findings and provide a venue for lively and detailed discussion between presenters and interested viewers. Don’t miss this opportunity to discuss current research one-on-one with the presenters.
