Sudeep Bhoja, Chief Technology Officer, Networking Interconnects, Inphi

Sudeep Bhoja is CTO for Networking at Inphi where he is working on high speed interconnects. Previously, he was Technical Director in the Infrastructure and Networking Group at Broadcom where he designed 10G DSP  transceiver interconnect solutions. He was also Chief Architect at Big Bear Networks pioneering the industry leading 10G Electronic Dispersion Compensation (EDC) development. He has 24 patents and is an active contributor to the IEEE groups driving the adoption of multilevel signaling and Forward Error Correction for the IEEE next gen optics and backplane standards.


William Bliss, Senior Technical Director, Broadcom Corp.

Will Bliss is a Senior Technical Director in the Office of the CTO at Broadcom Corp.  He has worked on applied communication and coding theory in silicon PHYs for thirty-eight years, initially in magnetic recording, and recently in 10GBASE-T and 802.3bj 100GBASE-KP4 Ethernet.  Will earned a PH.D. from the University of Colorado at Boulder, an M.S.E.E. from the University of Minnesota, and a B.S.E.E. from South Dakota State University.  He has labored for S.T. Microelectronics, Siemens Microelectronics, Cirrus Logic Corp., Texas A&M University, and IBM.  Will currently holds over sixty U.S. patents.


Chris Cole, Director, Transceiver Engineering, Finisar

Chris Cole is a Director at Finisar Corp., Sunnyvale, Calif. He received a B.S. in Aeronautics and Astronautics, and B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. At Hughes Aircraft Co. (now Boeing SDC) and then M.I.T. Lincoln Laboratory, Chris contributed to multiple imaging and communication satellite programs such as Milstar. Later, he consulted on telecom ASIC architecture and design for Texas Instruments DSP Group and Silicon Systems Inc. (now Maxim.) Chris was one of the architects of the Sequoia coherent imaging ultrasound platform at Acuson Corp. (now Siemens Ultrasound), where he also managed hardware and software development groups. As a principal consultant with the Parallax Group he carried out signal processing analysis and product definition for several imaging and communication systems. At BBN, a Finisar acquisition, Chris developed 10 Gb/s and 40 Gb/s optical transceivers. He is now leading the development of 40 Gb/s, 100 Gb/s and 400 Gb/s optical standards and transceivers. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE.

John D’Ambrosia, Chief Ethernet Evangelist, Dell

John D’Ambrosia is the Chief Ethernet Evangelist in the CTO Office of Dell. For the past 15 years he has been an industry advocate for pushing Ethernet to ever increasing rates.  Currently, he is chairing the IEEE P802.3bs 400GbE Task Force.  Previously, D’Ambrosia chaired the IEEE 802.3ba Task Force that developed 40GbE and 100GbE that is being widely deployed today. D’Ambrosia’s work is not limited to higher speeds, however, as he is a member of the IEEE 802 Executive Committee.  Outside of standards development, he is the Chairman of the Ethernet Alliance, an organization dedicated to the promotion of all IEEE 802 Ethernet Technologies.  In this role as well as an industry blogger, D’Ambrosia evangelizes all Ethernet technologies.  For his role in developing Ethernet standards, D’Ambrosia was awarded the IEEE-SA 2013 Standards Medallion, as well as inducted as part of the 2013 class into the Light Reading Hall of Fame.




Nathan Farrington, Founder and CEO, Packetcounter, Inc.

Nathan Farrington is a pioneer in the field of optically-circuit-switched data center networks. He is the Founder and CEO of Packetcounter, Inc., a data center networking startup company. Before that he was a data center network engineer at Facebook working on the Open Compute Project open-source top-of-rack switch. He earned the PhD from the University of California, San Diego, working under Amin Vahdat.


Tom Hausken, Senior Advisor, OIDA

With over 30 years in optoelectronics, Dr. Hausken focuses on industry activities at OSA—the Optical Society. This includes OIDA (the Optoelectronics Industry Development Association, the trade association operated by OSA) where he held a position earlier in his career. For 13 years until 2012, Dr. Hausken led market research and strategy consulting for lasers, image sensors, and a range of other photonic products at Strategies Unlimited. He was also a telecom policy analyst at the U.S. Congressional Office of Technology Assessment, and held R&D and production positions at Alcatel and Texas Instruments in photonics and electronics. He has a PhD from the University of California at Santa Barbara, in optoelectronics.


Scott.jpg Scott Kipp, Principal Engineer, Brocade Communications System, Inc.

Scott Kipp represents Brocade in multiple standards organizations and industry associations and has written several books on storage networking, fiber optics and digital entertainment. Kipp contributes to multiple standards organizations including ANSI T11, IEEE 802.3, OIF, IEEE 1619, SNIA, OASIS, IETF and Multi Sourcing Agreements. He specializes in high-speed fiber optic technology. Kipp is the President of the Ethernet Alliance and has written three books for the Fibre Channel Industry Association (FCIA), another entitled Broadband Entertainment and co-authored the Handbook on Fiber Optic Data Communications. He has a Bachelors and a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, California.


Subi Krishnamurthy, Chief Technical Officer, DELL Networking, Dell, Inc.

Mr. Subi Krishnamurthy is currently the CTO for DELL Networking. Prior to that he was the Vice President of Technology at Force10 Networks since 2007. Mr. Subi Krishnamurthy worked on leading edge silicon design for design automation at Zycad, 3D Graphics at Rendition (Micron) and delivered multiple network processing chips at Force10 Networks. He led the architecture for 3rd generation high density chassis for Force10 Networks. Mr. Subi Krishnamurthy holds multiple patents in 3d Graphics and Networking, has an M.S in Computer Science from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, and a B.E in Computer Science from Regional Engineering College, Trichy, India (NIT, Trichy).


Paul Little, Senior Manager, Semiconductor Manufacturing Services, Fujitsu Semiconductor America, Inc.

Paul is a Senior Manager at Fujitsu Semiconductor America, where he is responsible for technical marketing for Fujitsu’s advanced ASIC products for the communications market. Paul has over 18 years of experience in the semiconductor industry and has held several managerial positions across a variety of different areas, including ASIC & ASSP chip developments, CAD & methodology development, IP & library development. Prior to Fujitsu, Paul worked as a product engineer at NEC Electronics, focusing on DRAM wafer and die-level failure analysis.

Paul holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh and a Master’s degree in Microelectronics from Brunel University in London.


Ilya Lyubomirsky, Senior Principal Scientist, Finisar Corporation

Ilya Lyubomirsky received his Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from MIT in 1999. Early in his career at Telcordia and ONI Systems Inc., he contributed to system modeling and design of high-speed packet and optical metro networks. Next, he developed ultra-dense WDM transmission systems at Ciena Corp., and researched PIC-based fiber-optic communications at Infinera Corp. From 2003-2010, Ilya was an electrical engineering faculty at UCR. Currently at Finisar Corp., Ilya is leading the research on advanced DSP-based data center optical modules for 400 Gb/s and beyond. Ilya has co-authored 45 peer reviewed journal and conference papers and 8 patents.


Beck Mason, Vice President Transmission R&D, JDSU

Beck Mason is Vice President of R&D for Transmission Products within the Optical Communications business at JDSU.  He has worked in the optical communications industry for more than 15 years.  He started his career at Lucent Technologies Bell Laboratories doing research on advanced optoelectronic devices and subsequently held management positions in R&D at Agere Systems and Finisar before joining JDSU in 2007.  Beck holds a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of California at Santa Barbara, a Masters in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Toronto and a Bachelors in Engineering from the University of Waterloo.


Dale Murray, Principal Analyst, LightCounting

Dale Murray has over 30 years of industry experience in fiber optics and optoelectronics in new product development, business development and market analysis.  At LightCounting Market Research, he covers datacom markets and components from standardized optical links to next generation high-speed optical interconnects. Dale has been attending the IEEE 802.3 meetings and has contributed market research information to the discussions. 

Dale helped establish the fiber optic division at TE Connectivity [then AMP Incorporated] and led all aspects of new product development for active, passive and connector products.  He has been responsible for the product roadmaps, product specifications and technology partnerships at several organizations during his career.


Sergis Mushell, Research Director, Gartner

Sergis Mushell is a Research Director with Gartner Group.  Prior to joining Gartner, Mr. Mushell managed EMEA and North America as Area Sales Manager for Phaselink. He held product line management and marketing roles with several semiconductor companies, such as Altera and IDT, where he led efforts in product definition and business plans for new product lines. Mr. Mushell played a key role in several M&A due diligence activities and worked within standards bodies, such as JEDEC and IEEE, on new standards and initiatives.

Gary Nicholl, Principal Engineer, Cisco Systems

Gary is a Principal Engineer working in the Transceiver Module Group (TMG) at Cisco Systems.  He is responsible for defining strategy and technology for high speed optical interfaces across Cisco’s routing and switching platforms.
 
Gary also represents Cisco at various industry standards organizations, and was an active contributor in the development of 40G and100G standards at the IEEE, OIF and ITU.  His current focus is on standards related to the development of 400Gb/s Ethernet.
 
Prior to join Cisco, Gary spent 10 years at Nortel Networks in Ottawa, working in various R&D roles in the development of OC-3, OC-12 and OC48 optical transport products.
 
Gary holds a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Manchester (UK).


David Stauffer, Senior Engineer, Kandou Bus, S.A.

Dr. Stauffer has contributed to OIF electrical interface standards for many years as a member of the technical staff of Kandou Bus, S.A., and in his previous position with IBM. He has been the chair of the OIF Physical and Link Layer Working Group since 2006. Publications include the text "High Speed Serdes Devices and Applications" (Springer, 2008).


Natarajan 'Subu' Subrahmanyan, Senior Managing Director, The Juda Group

Natarajan ‘Subu’ Subrahmanyan, CFA is a Senior Managing Director and lead research analyst for communications equipment companies at The Juda Group, a division of Concept Capital Markets.  Mr. Subrahmanyan’s research focuses on leading data and optical networking companies.  He has been featured on the Wall Street Journal’s Best of the Street Analyst List, and was named the best up-and-comer in telecom equipment in the Institutional Investor polls.

Mr. Subrahmanyan joined The Juda Group in January 2003 prior to which he was lead research analyst for data and optical networking companies at Goldman Sachs.  He holds an MBA from the Owen School at Vanderbilt University and a B.S in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Anna University in Madras, India.


Jim Theodoras, Senior Director, Technical Marketing, ADVA Optical Networking

Jim Theodoras is Senior Director of Technical Marketing at ADVA Optical Networking, where he actively promotes the company’s portfolio of Optical+Ethernet transport products and related technologies. He has over 25 years of industry experience in electronics and optics, spanning a wide range of diverse topics. Jim is a past President of the Ethernet Alliance and was optical liaison editor for IEEE Communications Magazine from 2006-2010.  He holds 16 patents in the field of telecommunications, and is a frequent contributor to industry publications.


Jimmy Yu, Vice President, Dell'Oro Group

Jimmy Yu re-joined Dell’Oro Group in 2008 and is responsible for the Microwave Trnsmission, Mobile Backhaul, and Optical Transport market research programs.Mr. Yu originally joined Dell’Oro Group in 2001, and spent over four years as the primary analyst for Dell’Oro Group’s Optical Transport program and built our coverage of the PON market.  In 2006, Mr. Yu joined Spansion, a leader in flash memory solutions, as Strategic Product Marketing Manager for the server memory subsystem product line.

Prior to joining Dell’Oro Group, Mr. Yu worked for Deloitte Consulting and Northrop Grumman.Mr. Yu holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and an M.B.A.
