Tissue Imaging and Spectroscopy (BS)
A variety of techniques are being applied to in vivo optical imaging and spectroscopy in the case where the light is scattered many times as it passes through the sample. This group focuses on the use light to form images of tissue using diffusely scattered light or to determine tissue properties through spectroscopic measurements. Optical techniques used for both imaging and spectroscopy include reflection, absorption, fluorescence, phosphorescence, Raman, and the photo-acoustic effect. Such techniques are an essential tool for biomedical research involving small animals and hold great promise for clinical tasks such as breast cancer imaging, brain mapping, endoscopic imaging, and real-time feedback on efficacy during therapeutic procedures.
Grant Writing Workshop for Young Investigators at the OSA Biophotonics Congress
Tuesday, 4 April 2017, 07:00 – 08:30 AM
Catalina Ballroom, Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina
Members attending the OSA Biophotonics Congress
in San Diego this April are invited to join the leaders of the OSA Tissue Imaging and Spectroscopy Technical Group, Paul Campagnola and Kyle Quinn, for a workshop aimed at helping young investigators develop competitive grant proposals. The workshop will cover how to properly construct a specific aims page for National Science Foundation and National Institute of Health grants, with both good and bad examples being provided. Participants are encouraged to bring their own grant proposals to the workshop as assistance in reviewing and improving the proposals will be offered. An RSVP is required for this technical group event as breakfast will be provided. Contact TGactivities@osa.org
to register, pending availability.
